Sadness, cookies and cakes

On a very sad note I feel really badly, JustAnUgly Monkey didn’t get the first dog he wanted, Katie, because the owner gave her to someone else. Then, we went to the shelter to get a puppy and he ended up adopting a beautiful little Australian Shepard girl. She was so beautiful and sweet she let us rub her belly and hold her like a baby. Before we left they painted her toenails with pink puppy polish to show that she was adopted. The polish made her sneeze and it looked like a huge smile every time she reared back to let another one go. The very next day we went out and got her treats, a kennel, toys, shampoo, and a pink and lime green argyle collar. Monkey even pick out a small pink metallic heart for her collar and had it engraved with her new name, Daisy, in very pretty script font. The shelter called him the next day and told him that one of the puppies had parvo, and that we should contact our vet to see what we should do about it. Monkey sleeps during the day so I called and found out how bad parvo is. The shelter later called and said that she had it now because it spreads so easily and he and her brother’s and sisters would have to be put to sleep. Monkey and I are heartbroken; she was only 2 months old. I can still she that tiny smiling face. She was very loved in those few days and we will miss her and all the plans we had for her. It is for the best though, the shelter, vet and family and friends say that parvo is just awful and the rate of survival is so low that to put them to sleep was the humane thing to do.

It still makes me wonder at our local shelter, puppies can be vaccinated for parvo, and I know they are going through a moving process, but I wonder what it would take to have some kind of procedure in place so that this didn’t happen again. Many times I’ve thought about volunteering

at the shelter when they moved to their new location not to far away from us, maybe this is something else I can work towards if I do. I understand that our shelter isn’t a no-kill kind, but if we can help out these babies in life who are more likely to be adopted I think we should. It’s our place in the world. Societies are judged on how they treat their less fortunate and I think that applies to our animals.

I had to go home and hug my Leela.

So guess what I do when I’m sad? That’s right again! I bake. Well okay I just love to

bake in general, but there is something so soothing about a home that smells like warm sugar. I love to read the murder-mysteries by Joanne Fluke that have recipes in them. A few Christmases ago Nana and Mama Monkey bought me pretty much the whole set, there are like 12 books and I love them. But it’s around Valentine’s Day and decided to try out a new cookie from the book and it’s called Coco Snaps. And I should have paid more attention to the few words after the recipe, because she writes that they remind her of chocolate animal crackers. So I whipped up a batch and refrigerated the dough like it said, made balls, rolled in sugar, pressed down and baked. Now they are really beautiful cookies the sugar really stands out and makes them sparkle. Just don’t eat them on the day you take them out or at least let them cool all the way. They taste like crap if you don’t. I only baked a dozen and left the rest of the dough in the fridge. BUT this morning I thought what the heck I’ll try one and now they are like crack to me. They aren’t really sweet but they are tasty like an animal cracker. (Photo is of actual cookies! Aren't they pretty?!) Next up Chocolate Chip Crunches or Molasses Crackles.

So it’s been a crazy week. Everyday I’ve had this pounding headache-fever thing.

Makes it hard to concentrate.

We had a freak snow day this week that was supposed to be a few flakes and ended up with me having to clean off my car and slide around the roadways, oh well it wasn’t too bad it was pretty clear by quitting time.

This is the cake that JustAnUglyMonkey and I saw that would go great with my cake design! or alone, either way it rocks!

Random Stuff and Puppies

So Monkey has been talking about getting a dog for a while now. I think it would be good for him. Pets teach us how to care for something that depends on us. I worry because he still lives in an apartment and he wants a larger dog. It’s not fair to an animal that should be able to run around to be locked up for most of the day, but then again he will hopefully play with it a lot. The dog that he wants to get is named Katie and she is about 6 months old and is a German Shepard mix. She’s beautiful! He would let us baby-sit her so she would get to know the Leeler and me too. I would love to have a dog. They are so much fun and just really love you. Not that cats don’t, but cats are more like demanding roommates then pets sometimes, dogs are loyal and buddies. I worry about it chewing on his roommate’s furniture that is leather too. So we’ll see. She looks like a very sweet girl, I love her floppy ears!

Okay I’ll admit it; I let a SBD go at work yesterday. Hey it happens, but the funny thing that let me get away with it was it was around lunchtime and one of my co-workers sniffed and said, “Is someone cooking broccoli?” I said I think so, whew, smelly…. Lol I’m bad.

I still have like a fever/sick thing going on from being sick back around Christmas and I can’t seem to shake it. It’s bumming me out, I just want to feel okay again. Ick!

Random wedding stuff I like!

So back in the day JustAnUglyMonkey and I, both really liked orange for our wedding color. So orange shoes have been on my mind and orange stuff. But also I love Dia de loss Muertos skulls or sugar skulls. So when I found shoes with both of these things I was amazed! These shoes come from http://www.etsy.com/shop/ScholarlyArticles she has some really beautiful items. I love wacky shoes, not that it’s too wacky but I wear wooden clogs almost daily. We have a little rock in roll style so tying these two things together I thought was a neat idea for one of my first stabs at my fantasy wedding planning. So here are a few ideas I have.

Paper cut outs. These can come in different colors

SHOES!!!!

The cake I drew up that would match an Ed Hardy grooms cake, with the words, "Love Dies Hard." I couldn't decide what color would look good so I was playing with them all.

Lastly this is my dress.
I have it, it hangs in MaMaMonkey's basement in a white bag Nana made for it with a ribbon tied at the the top.

I'm Beat Man, that's right Mason take a nap right there

Whew, my everything hurts. Two weekends ago Georgia and I decided to rearrange our apartment and take stuff to Goodwill and chuck stuff. It all went pretty well…. until we bought a new ottoman, which is beautiful and matches our living room stuff it was meant to be. We got it from Big Lots for less than a 1/6 of the original price we felt amazing. It was closing time when we ran in and knew exactly what we wanted to buy so they let us stay. The furniture guy came out and we chatted with him about his new baby as we sat on a display couch and watched him take off the legs for us. We joked with the staff about what assholes people that came in the last minute were and they helped us carry our ottoman to the car as we displayed our talent at fitting something very large in to Georgia’s car. We were told we were awesome and went on our way. But then we had to rearrange out living room. We thought easy; all we have to do is make sure that the entertainment center fits nicely in the corner. Let’s measure so we know it will fit! Okay, now where is that measuring tape? Ummm can’t find it, Let’s use this beach towel! Folks, beach

towels are unreliable device for measurement, well at least in the hands of very tired Georgia and Amanda’s. Entertainment center didn’t fit, we had to move it 7 times, a 800 million pound tv SEVEN TIMES! I have a crazy big bruise. And we killed the futon, so now we have one couch. It makes our apartment look much bigger, but now we have to sit side by side, which prompts a few, “I feel very close to you right now,” jokes. And we have to have our own sides assigned to curl into. The cats are quite fond of the new ottoman the like to jump on it, curl on in and under it. I’ll have to grab a photo.

Oh! Dinner with JustAnUglyMonkey went well I’m glad I did a test run chicken Parmesan, because I’m pretty sure I would have lit myself on fire. But it turned out good! Took a little longer than I thought, but it was tasty.

JustAnUglyMonkey and one of his friends were goofing around and he accidentally ripped out his earring and it left this nasty rip in his ear. But at least he’ll have a cool scar and he didn’t have to get stitches. Good thing I dig scars.

Had to have the Cox cable guys come out and fix our DVR/Cable box and Internet. They sent us two dudes! How exciting! I got to stay home and watch out for them while Georgia had to go to work, joy. But they fixed it up and even had a few laughs with me, well because we are odd girls and when you come to odd girls homes you get to have some laughs. Laughing points were: We choose our passwords because they are creepy and we remember them, remember this when you have to tell someone how to log on to your computer…I’m not ashamed, I’m just happy I got to tell someone. Our wireless network also has a unique name, Sexy_(insert animal here). Also, the cutest part was Mason sitting on all of their equipment…even when they were trying to use it.

I texted Georgia to tell here that the younger one was a hottie and she asked me to get a photo of him for her so of course I looked like a creepy lady trying to take a photo of him with my phone and not get noticed. It worked out ok.

While we were cleaning I went though some old photos I had and found a photo of me at me at my high school graduation and I was so cute. I know I’m a grown woman now, but I hope to look something like this again. Check out my legs! I think I’m a hottie.

While shopping at Big Lots for our new Ottoman, Georgia and me found this titillating fragrance. Austin Powers swears by it! Go out and get some today!

So Georgia and I have decided that we need to document our craziness, we have so many stories and I tell some here, but they are one sided and pretty quick so I got us this big yellow notebook with argyle pens to write in it with so when something funny happens we can jot it down or other stuff like the nights we’ve stayed up and wrote our own alphabet call sheet, made up crazy professions such as Starfish Arranger, to put on business cards. I think we are going to make up bucket lists at some point after watching The Buried Life so much. And of course all of outings and the people we meet.

Other Funny things:

Georgia singing a song about sensitive people and the only thing we can remember about it was, “I like Babies…. tasty.”

And the other night I tried to make brownies in my new self-slicing brownie pan (didn’t work right) and then I was going to decorate them with Dia de los Murtertos skulls as experiments. Well I goofed up on one and walked away to take a phone call and Georgia decided to help me out by giving me a clean slate on my brownie by wiping away the frosting from the brownie, with her finger…. Did she lick it? I don’t know, wasn’t in the room, but now that brownie was the whore brownie, which I marked with a giant “H”…. did I ever tell you I can’t spell…

I would put up the video, but it's pretty much a bunch of laughing.

Other blogs that need to be made are:

Rearrange apt blog photos –when finished

The day babysitting Poppi

And I still look at wedding stuff so I’m going to put up wedding stuff, photos of my dress, cake ideas and whatnot. Just throwing out ideas to get the juices flowing, but not actual wedding planning.

Byeeeeeee!
